Become a Tyne Derwent Way Climate Champion!

This exciting session has been created for young people (with parents/ guardians) with a special interest in local wildlife and the natural environment.

Led by Wild Intrigue, you will discover everything from bird and minibeast identification, to top tips in protecting local wildlife.

As part of the session, each child will receive a Climate Champions backpack full of naturalist equipment to take home and keep, to continue their discovery of wildlife. Each backpack contains specially selected items such as identification guides and binoculars, which Wild Intrigue will show young Climate Champions how to use during the session.

Beginning at the Winlaton Centre, you will take a mini urban wildlife safari, using Climate Champions backpack equipment to discover and learn about hidden wildlife right on our doorstep!

  • Suitable for children in Key Stage two (7 to 12).
  • Sessions are limited to 10 children plus accompanying adults.
  • Parents/ guardians are required to stay with their children throughout the full session.
  • Please wear suitable clothing for the forecast weather, and shoes suitable for walking.
  • If you book tickets and are no longer able to attend, please let us know so we can reopen the spaces.
