Climate Change Adaptation - Cardiff
Event Information
Description
In the last few years Wales has experienced a series of extreme weather events with floods and storms becoming a regular winter occurrence.
The 2014 IPCC Report identified the importance of including resilience to weather extremes in the design of new infrastructure and buildings and the need for a greater focus on the adaptation of business operations to reduce the risks and impacts of climate change. The urgency of finding effective business solutions to mitigate climate change was echoed in the debates held in Paris at COP 21.
Meeting these challenges also presents a business opportunity - creating a demand for innovation and the development of new products and services.
This UK BCSD workshop will present some of the solutions being implemented to reduce business risk, and to protect cities, infrastructure and key installations. It will examine how these can be replicated; and identify the need for new products and services to support these business solutions.
