About this event
Do you want to do something positive about Climate Change? We are inviting you to join with other people and organisations across RCT who want to make a difference.
The Climate Change Hack is a one-day event that will bring people together from across RCT to come up with fresh ideas to tackle Climate Change together.
You don’t need to have any expert knowledge, just a passion to make a difference and the drive to work with others make change happen. There are lots of organisations working to address Climate Change in RCT and we will get to hear about the difference they are making.
The Challenge
During the day, you will be working in a team to create fresh ideas around the following challenge:
“What can we do together as organisations, businesses and individuals across RCT to address Climate Change?”
Over the day you will hear from organisations across RCT who are tackling Climate Change in their communities. There will be a series of short workshops and group tasks as each team explores their ideas to address the challenge.
The day will culminate with a final pitch event where groups will present their ideas. This event isn’t a competition but a day for the community to co-operate on Climate Change. If you are serious about taking your idea forward, we will let you know about funding opportunities and support available.
Who is it for?
This event is for businesses, community groups, social enterprises, and concerned citizens who want to work together to address Climate Change! Come with an open mind, be a team player, and work with others to get some fresh ideas and community projects created. Sign up with friends, neighbours, your community group, or organisation, or come along and join a team.
Where and when is it happening?
8.30am – 5.00pm Thursday 26th May 2022 at St. Elvan’s Church, Aberdare, CF44 7AB
Areas for fresh ideas
Each team will address the Challenge question and will explore fresh ideas to answer it. Your team can focus on a particular issue like the ones listed below, a combination of them, or explore the big picture of getting people working together:
- Carbon reduction
- Food
- Waste
- Energy
- Green spaces and well-being
We will be looking for you to come up with fresh ideas for projects, partnerships, and social enterprises to address these issues. We would love you to sign up as a team of around five to create new project ideas around one of these themes, but if there is a different one that you have ideas for then please tell us about it. You can join as a team or join with others with the same interest.
How much does it cost?
The event is totally free! There will be tea and coffee throughout the day and lunch will be provided.
Do I have to attend all day?
