Online event

A two part climate education course in partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful.

About this event

Part 1: Wednesday 21 September 2022 | 4.30pm - 6pm

Part 2: Wednesday 5 October 2022 | 4.30pm - 6pm

This two part course is open to anyone working in Scottish Education, particularly teaching practitioners across all establishments.

Delivered by Keep Scotland Beautiful and Scotland's Development Education Centres, this course will:

  • support you to understand the environmental and social impacts of climate change
  • equip you with teaching strategies and practical activities which will support learners to better understand the causes and consequences of climate change, and empower them to take positive action for change.

All courses run by the Scottish Development Education Centres are highly interactive, both to model the participatory global citizenship approach, and so we can share activities and methodologies for use in the classroom. This course will make use of breakout rooms and simple digital participation tools (all necessary instructions will be given!). It can be hard to participate fully on a phone or tablet, so we highly recommend you join the course on a desktop or laptop computer, with your microphone and video enabled.

Please note will be held on Zoom to make use of the interactive capabilities of this platform. Depending on your Local Authority, it might be easier to access the course on your own personal computer rather than a council one.

By registering for this course, you are automatically signing up for both parts.

If you have particular access needs, please contact us at so we can work together to create as positive an experience for you as we can.

All 32 local authority areas in Scotland are covered by a Development Education Centre – for full details, including locations and how to contact your local DEC, please visit
