Event description
Description
Climate change is the greatest challenge of our times. It is vital that action is taken to avoid dangerous climate breakdown and damage to the natural world. Yet action also brings opportunities for: energy independence, unpolluted water and air, reversing wildlife decline, better health for humans, liveable towns and cities, and jobs created in sustainable technologies
The meeting will include:
STOP PRESS - Chair for the meeting Debbie Tann, Chief Executive of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust
-
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust declares that, ‘The world is waking up to the environmental catastrophe we face. Action is needed at all levels, globally and locally to reverse wildlife declines and tackle the climate crisis’. Debbie champions the strategy for a ‘wilder’ future where we move from trying to protect what’s left to creating more space for nature and creating the connections that help wildlife recover and survive
Introduction to Climate Emergency by Kate Chapman, Local Environmental Consultant
- Kate is a consultant to the sustainability and environmental sector. She was appointed sustainability advisor to the London 2012 Olympic Games, and has since worked as a consultant with a wide range of large and small organisations.
