The University of Birmingham is delivering a series of business development programmes through our Climate Innovation Platform (CIP) to support businesses the committed to driving energy technology innovation.

Climate Innovation Fund 2023*

The Climate Innovation Fund welcomes applications from climate-focused innovators seeking grants between £2,000 and £10,000.

This funding can support entrepreneurs developing their ideas through to SMEs striving to take their business to the next level. Supporting low carbon economy innovations and/or promoting research and innovation in the adoption of low carbon technologies.

Application deadline: 13:00 on Friday 10 February 2023.

Climate Innovation Platform - Springboard*

The CIP Springboard is a bespoke business development programme designed to support early-stage climate innovators and entrepreneurs.

This four-day programme will be delivered by experienced facilitators to take successful applicants through all the areas that a fledgling business needs to develop their core business offer.

The programme will run from February 2023 through to March 2023.

Application deadline: 13:00 on Friday 10 February 2023.

Climate Innovation Platform - Cohort Three

Supported by HSBC UK and part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) the Climate Innovation Platform (CIP) offers businesses a package of tailored support to drive the commercialisation of innovative energy products and services. This programme will be delivered by the University of Birmingham in partnership with the Energy Systems Catapult and will run from June 2023 through to December 2023.

Offering grant funding (phase 1: up to £5k, phase 2: up to £20.5k) and bespoke business development support designed to aid businesses in scaling-up and commercialisation.

Application deadline: 23:59 on Friday 31 March 2023.

Join us in person at Tyseley Energy Park to find out more about the Springboard, Innovation Fund and Business Incubator programmes.

During this one hour session the CIP team will brief you on each of the opportunities and explain how these can benefit your business. Attendees will also get an opportunity to tour the 16-acre site and see the incubation space available via the programme.

*Applicants to the Climate Innovation Fund and Climate Innovation Platform - Springboard programme must be a SME (Small and Medium Size Enterprise) based in the Greater Birmingham Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) more developed area (most postcodes in the Birmingham, Solihull, Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest Districts).
