An opportunity to experience and learn more about the Climate Safe Lending Fellowship programme.

About this event

Are you thinking about applying to the Climate Safe Lending Fellowship, and want to experience the programme before you apply?

We invite you to attend our Fellowship Taster Session - a one and a half hour workshop for banking professionals to connect with peers while exploring the institutional, behavioural and cultural dimensions of influencing bank climate action from the inside. Attendees will also hear more about the Fellowship and how to apply.

Who is it for?

This Taster Session is open to anyone considering joining the Climate Safe Lending Fellowship and who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • You currently work for a private sector commercial bank.
  • You are actively working to catalyse the climate transition within your institution (with or without a mandate to do so).
  • You have a minimum of three years experience in banking and the potential to influence key internal stakeholders.

While the Fellowship programme is designed to accommodate attendees in Transatlantic timezones, we also welcome participants from any part of the world who are able to commit to the programme timings.

We welcome a diverse group of participants from varied functional areas across banking. Previous participants have come from a range of front and back office areas including: risk, portfolio management, legal, corporate strategy, relationship management, HR, sustainability and ESG in banks at all stages of the climate transition.

What to expect?

Got Zoom fatigue? This convening will feel very different to most online events. It is carefully designed as an intimate and honest learning space between likeminded peers across the banking sector. We're interested in you as a leader as much as your expertise.

This is a unique, confidential, pre-competitive space designed to foster creativity, connection and innovation. By joining this 1.5-hr participatory workshop, you will:

  • Explore the theme of ‘Credibility in the Climate Transition’ which will be central to this year’s Fellowship.
  • Experience the kinds of tools and activities used on the Fellowship, and progress your thinking on how to accelerate your own bank’s climate action.
  • Connect with fellow bankers on what motivates you to act on climate change in your institution, and the barriers you face.
  • Find out more about the CSL Fellowship programme, what it involves and how to apply.

The workshop will be hosted by members of the Fellowship team, including Jacqueline Lim and Natalie Tucker, Co-Leads of the Climate Safe Lending Fellowship programme.

The workshop is also designed to be useful to all participants as a one-off experience. We encourage you to attend with a colleague where possible to help integrate the conversation back into your bank.

This is what other CSL Fellows say about the Fellowship:

"For me, the Fellowship was about breaking away from traditional financial services learning and development programmes. I wanted to be a better leader on a topic I feel strongly about. This is the perfect programme to challenge yourself to a new way of thinking, and most importantly, giving you the skills to equip yourself to drive climate action within your organisation." - CSL Fellow 21/22

"The Fellowship helped me look deeper and challenge my own responses and way of doing things so I could become more aware and effective in my interventions. The availability of resources to dip back into and build my own resource library is invaluable." - CSL Fellow 21/22

About the Climate Safe Lending Fellowship

The Climate Safe Lending Fellowship is a leadership development programme for banking professionals working to accelerate the climate action of their institutions from the inside, in service of a just and equitable transition to a climate safe world. The programme is jointly delivered by the Climate Safe Lending Network and Finance Innovation Lab.

Beginning in December 2022, the six-month Fellowship offers a confidential, pre-competitive, structured space for committed climate advocates who currently work in a bank, and are working to advance climate action in their institutions- whether as part of their day job or side-of-desk. Over six months, Fellows will build their knowledge, leadership and skills for transforming their insitutions from within. They will also have regular access to peer coaching, network-building with stakeholders across and beyond banking, as well as tailored support from the programme team to move forward with their specific area of focus.
