About this event
Join us for our latest expert Q&A session with Ian Marchant, former chief executive of SSE and a driving force for change in the utilities industry, with expertise in finance, governance, regulation, renewables, and climate change mitigation.

About the speakers
Ian Marchant FRSE FRSGS
Ian is a highly experienced chairman, CEO, and non-executive director with expertise in governance, finance, regulation, renewable energy and climate change mitigation. He is founder and CEO of Dunelm Energy Ltd, through which he advises and invests in start-up businesses.
During his ten years as CEO of Scottish and Southern Electric, Ian led transformational change, performance improvements, and the development of renewables.
He is also chairman of Thames Water, chair of Logan Energy, and a non-executive director of Aggreko. Formerly, he has served as independent chairman of energy services firm, John Wood Group, chair of Nova Innovation Ltd, president of the Energy Institute, and chairman of the renewable energy firm, Infinis.
Ian is also a founder of Scotland’s ‘Lights up Malawi’ campaign for Climate Justice, as well as the Scotland 2020 Climate Group.
He holds fellowships at the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Royal Scottish Geographical Society, as well as the role of Honorary President of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland.
Mike Robinson FRCGS
Mike chairs the Meet the Experts events in his capacity as the Chief Executive of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society and co-author of the Climate Solutions Programme.
Also founder of Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, he was a key campaigner for the Climate Change Act of 2009, chair of the Scottish Parliament's working group on annual climate targets, and a member of the stewarding group for Scotland's Climate Assembly.
He is currently chair of the Perth City Leadership Forum and co-chair of the independent inquiry, Farming for 1.5°C. He also sits on advisory groups for Air Passenger Duty and ScotRail, and the board of Transform Scotland.
