About this event
Climate Tech Impact South 02 💥
We are back for event 02 - the theme is decarbonising HEAT. ♨️
Network with like-minded individuals, hear from industry experts, and explore collaboration opportunities.
We have two guest speakers for you, plus a surprise spot announcing something we are cooking up for our December event!
🎤 Guest Speaker 1 - James Macnaghten – CEO, Caldera ♨️
Caldera transforms intermittent renewable power into reliable industrial heat, enabling manufacturers to sustain production, cut carbon emissions, and stabilise energy expenses.
“Why Heat is the Hidden Giant in the Race to Net Zero”
James has recently closed Caldera's Series A investment round for £10m and has some fantastic insights to share on Caldera's journey to date, and why decarbonising heat is one of the UK's biggest challenges and opportunities! ♨️
Most of the UK's attention is on generating clean power. But what about heat?
Caldera is tackling one of the UK’s biggest, least-talked-about carbon problems: industrial process heat. Their breakthrough heat cell storage boiler system enables intermittent renewable energy to be converted into on-demand heat, and is built to scale across multiple industry sectors
In this session, James Macnaghten (CEO) will share:
- Why heat is the elephant in the room of decarbonisation
- How thermal energy storage could change the economics of clean energy
- What Caldera’s journey reveals about scaling hard tech in the UK
- How the South can lead in clean tech innovation
✅ Who is this for?
🌱 Renewable energy
🏗️ Infrastructure + retrofitting
⚙️ Low-carbon tech or hardware
🧠 AI, software, or systems thinking for climate solutions
📈 Scaling or funding a climate startup
🏛️ Local government, academia, or policy innovation
🧭 Why Attend Now?
- The planet is heating up
- So is policy, regulation, and funding momentum
- And so is the need for collaboration across silos — tech, gov, biz, and community
We don’t just need better tech. We need more climate collisions — where ideas, people, and momentum collide to spark change.
➡️ You will leave with
✅ New connections and comunity
✅ Insights and learning you can apply an share
✅ A clearer view of who’s doing what in the South’s climate ecosystem
