This Level 2 Award in Climbing Trees and Aerial Rescue provides the underpinning knowledge, and the skills required to climb trees, move around the tree canopy, and carry out aerial rescues from the tree
What is covered?
In addition to health and safety aspects, relevant legislation concerning climbing such as LOLER, and also visual tree assessments will be covered. The course looks at equipment checks and climbing knots, before moving on to setting up a climbing system and ascending the tree.
You will carry out branch walking, setting supplementary anchors as well as two different types of aerial rescue from the tree canopy. The course also covers the use of spikes and you will need to demonstrate installing a false anchor, and two different types of rescue from a pole.
This is a physically demanding course and you will need a reasonable level of fitness to complete the course.
The course does not cover the use of saws in the tree.

How much does it cost?
The total cost for the course is £659.00. You pay £50.00 deposit to secure your place and you will be invoiced the remaining £659.00 on the first day of the course, at which point you will have 28 days to pay. The course fee includes all tuition, assessor, CIty & Guilds NPTC registration and administration fees.
Are there any course pre-requisites?
No. This is a 'foundation' course that will allow you to move on to completing further courses. You should have a reasonable level of fitness, and a head for heights though.
What should I bring with me?
Please bring along your own climbing equipment; which you should be able to demonstrate that is in compliance with LOLER (or less than 6 months old).
Please bring your own food and drink.
Please dress appropriately for the weather, and wear supportive boots (walking boots) at the very least.
When is the assessment?
The assessment date is planned for the Monday 23rd January 2017.
Can I get a refund if I find out that I am afraid of heights?
Some people find out that they are afraid of heights during the course - in this event, unfortunately no refund can be made.
