Event description
Clinical research is not just for doctors: a practical guide on getting started in research for AHPs, nurses and midwives.

About this Event

Have you ever wondered if being more involved in clinical research might increase your job satisfaction? or have you wanted to test a new service or trial an innovation?

This study day covers all that you need to know if you are considering becoming (more) involved in research, from ethics to archiving.

Learning will mostly be delivered by NHS-employed AHPs and Nurses who have research experience themselves, ensuring that advice is pragmatic and relevant.

Delegates at this study day will learn about different levels of research participation, ranging from contributing as part of an NHS job or on a part time basis, to setting up your own study.

This learning will reflect experience from locally-employed NHS nurses and therapists who have successfully navigated some of the challenges involved.

In the afternoon, you will be able to attend your choice of 2 workshops from a possible 3, which cover practical steps such as scoping a study, sorting costings and funding, and obtaining ethics approval and NIHR support.

This event is for staff employed in the NHS, social care and charitable sectors and is not suitable for those in full time education or employed full time by commercial organisations.
