Clinicians in Research Network (CiRN) 2nd Annual Meeting

Date: 1 September 2017 (Friday)

Time: 12-5pm

Venue: Kelvin Hall, Glasgow, G3 8AW

Abstract submission deadline: BST 5pm, 4 August 2017.

Abstract submission is encouraged, but not a pre-requisite, to attend this meeting.

This event is open to all and is free to attend.


This meeting is valuable for all clinicians interested in research. It is particularly relevant to clinically-trained early career researchers (ECRs).

Beginning at midday with a networking lunch followed by an interactive afternoon including sessions on: 

  • Public and patient involvement in research

  • How to build a successful mentor-mentee relationship with a speed-mentoring session (separate registration required)

  • The role of junior doctors in clinical trials

In addition, you will have an opportunity to have your professional profile photograph taken. A poster prize (a certificate with a £50 Amazon voucher) will be awarded for the best poster presentation.

How to submit my abstract?

  • Please choose the "Registration & abstract submission" ticket type and go to our Google Form link to submit your abstract.

  • Abstracts are welcomed for all forms of research carried out by clinically qualified researchers (i.e. first author of the submitted abstract must be clinically trained).

  • All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the CiRN organising committee. 

How to register for the speed-mentoring session?

What are the guidelines for poster presenters?

  • Your poster should summarise your research and be formatted in a way appropriate for a scientific conference.

  • Your poster size should be in portrait and not larger than A1. We are unable to accommodate landscape posters and these will not be displayed.

When will I know whether my abstract has been accepted?

  • An email notification of the outcome will be sent to you by 11 August 2017.
