Overview:

This talk explores how design tools can help us create better outcomes. Clive examines the impact of poor decisions and solutioninsing and considers how empathy for the people we make decisions for, analysis of data, creativity and prototyping solutions before we build them apply to policy, strategy and delivery for impact.

Speaker bio:

Clive is the co-founder of now+next, a company that trains organisations in service design. Clive has set up and led influential design teams for Barclays Bank, Cisco, Samsung and telecoms company Orange. He started his career with innovation consultancy IDEO in the US and was co-founder and partner of the design consultancy Tangerine along with Apple design chief Sir Jony Ive. Clive was Head of Service Design at the Royal College of Art. As well as running now+next with Anja Kluver, Clive is an advisor to Bosch Gmbh, Trustee of the Design and Technology Association, was Chair of the DBA Design Effectiveness Award and the RSA and his book, “Redesigning Thinking” is published in June 2025. Creative review placed Clive in their Top 50 and described him as “a passionate advocate for the transformational potential of design for some three decades…today’s focus on design’s value in leading customer experience in the UK is, in large part, due to his work."
