Description

Explore the technique of cloisonné enamelling to create your own enamelled pieces.

You will learn how to make a decorative pendant or similar using copper sheet, silver cloisonné wires and colourful enamels. Your final piece of work will be fused together in a kiln.

This technique has been used in many cultures around the world to create jewellery and tableware. Large Chinese vases that display this technique are included in the furnishings of the Royal Pavilion.

All materials will be provided. Suitable for all levels including beginners.

Eve Claire Taylor is a qualified silversmith, jeweller and metalwork conservator. Eve's apprenticeship as a jeweller led her to continue onto a BA Hons at Brighton University, to continue as a silversmith. Eve runs her own business selling her work at craft shows and galleries, as well as running classes for silver work, spoon making and enamelling. Last year she completed a Graduate Metal Work Conservation course at West Dean College near Chichester. Eve works as a freelance metal conservator from her workshop in the Phoenix. During the summer 2017 she worked as a conservator in Brighton’s Royal Pavilion.
