Close-to-Practice Research: A Collaboration with London's Science Museum
Event Information
About this Event
The overarching theme of the webinar will be how to bring together education researchers and practitioners to maximise the impact of research on practice and improve outcomes for children.
First, we will give a concise overview of the project, including its main objectives, methodology, and key findings.
Next, we will talk about the issues we have encountered during the project, focussing specifically on the challenges involved in bringing together academic and practitioner sides of research, such as:
- recognising the differences in the ways researchers and practitioners approach, understand, and conduct research
- discussing and agreeing on the definitions of key concepts and terms
- balancing the extent of detail and rigour of research against the demands of expediency imposed by practitioners
- communicating findings/producing research outputs in accessible ways and formats
Together with the audience, we will discuss the lessons learned from our experiences of conducting research jointly with practitioners, seeking to draw some common conclusions and recommendations.
The webinar will be delivered through MC Teams. Please register here and we will send a link to your email nearer the event.
