About this event

Community • Historic

Towering cliffs, dramatic views and wild spaces dominate Jersey’s north-west corner – a destination for dog-walkers, haven for wildlife and home to Jersey’s race horsing community. It’s also filled with fascinating reminders and remnants of Jersey’s military history past, as you will discover on this guided ramble with historian Ian Ronayne.

Starting with the enigmatic ruins of Medieval Grosnez Castle, the walk will explore multiple historic layers including Napoleonic signal stations, the move from musketry to modern rifles and stark evidence of Hitler’s Atlantic Wall in Jersey.

A walk of 3 miles. Moderate walking on formed paths with some lose surfaces.

Meet outside the Gronez Castle gatehouse. Bus route 8
