Discover Your Inner She-Ro!

Power of the Pen! Power of Women!

APPLICATION FORM

This a creative residential weekend for women, funded by the WEA Women in the Highlands Project. Relaxed and informal, we’ll use a range of beginner-friendly creative writing and art activities as a way to discover what it means to be a woman living in the Highlands in the 21st century and how small steps can make a big difference to confidence and empowerment.

The weekend is free to attend with accommodation, meals and workshops included. Places are strictly limited and will be awarded through an application process.

Priority will be given to women who have not already participated in a WEA WITH residential event.

Please note: This event is available only to women currently living in the Highlands of Scotland and must be 18 or over. The accommodation is in shared rooms with shared bathroom facilities.

Places are strictly limited and will be awarded through an application process. To register for this event DOES NOT guarantee you a place. This event is for women aged 18+

Participants will be expected to take part in the full programme of events, which will run from Friday early evening to Sunday mid morning. The retreat will take place in Forse House, Caithness and weather permitting, will include some outdoor activity, so be sure to bring warm clothes and boots or wellies.

COST & APPLYING: Places are free but strictly limited and awarded by an application process. The weekend is free to attend with meals, accommodation and workshops included.

VENUE: Forse House, Latheron, Caithness

ACCOMMODATION: Please note the accommodation will be Hostel style with shared rooms and bathroom facilities.

ABOUT US WEA

Women in the Highlands The WEA Women in the Highlands project works with women in the Highlands, supporting them by providing safe, non-judgemental environments where they can come together to learn, to give and receive support, and to discuss the issues important to them.

OUTCOME 1: Women in the Highlands will be inspired and encouraged to connect, engage with and participate in their communities and wider society.

OUTCOME 2: Women in the Highlands will be supported to access development opportunities which will further their personal and societal potential.

OUTCOME 3: WEA Women in the highlands aspires to create and support four self-governed and self-sustaining women's groups which will represent the voices of Highland women.

WEA WITH will contribute to the following Scottish Government National Equality Outcome: Women’s position in the economy and in employment is improved in the long term, and to Outcome 2 of the Women's Equality Steering Group framework:

Greater understanding within the group and other stakeholders of the challenges faced by women and women’s organisations, and of the diverse nature of women’s lived experiences in Scotland.Our workshops and events are free to attend and attendees must be 18 years plus. The Women in the Highlands project is funded by the Scottish Government Promoting Equality and Cohesion Fund.
