At Hull and across the UK Higher Education Sector, Black students are less likely to graduate with a 1st or 2:1 than their white peers. This 'Awarding Gap' reinforces educational inequality, and means that Black students are less likely to graduate with the grades they need to achieve their future goals. The University of Hull has committed to halving our ethnicity awarding gap by 2024/5. In this interactive session open to staff, students and the wider university community, Dr Katharine Hubbard (Teaching Excellence Academy) will explore awarding gap data, share examples of interventions being made across the university, and ask attendees to identify what they can do to help close the gap.
This event is open to both staff and students, the more the merrier!
