Event description

Description

To celebrate our new REBORN theme, we've teamed up with ExtendThat.nl to install a repair station every Saturday afternoon at Fashion for Good, so that you can bring in garments to be repaired on the spot and be inspired by our free museum for sustainable fashion innovation while you wait!

What is ExtendThat?

A soon-to-be launching platform giving you access to Amsterdam's most highly skilled craftspeople to repair your products, from that hole in your trousers to that broken wooden chair.

Who will be repairing:

The Extenders are a collective of local ateliers, tailors and designers who live and breathe their craft, focusing on quality and long lasting repairs.

Types of repairs possible:

  • Tears, rips and holes
  • Hemming
  • Alterations
  • Re-sizing
  • Buttons
  • Zippers** For zippers, ExtendThat can offer a drop-off service where the repaired item is delivered back to you. This is because zippers need to be matched correctly to the trousers/jeans and saves them over-stocking :)

Repairs will be either machine based or hand-stitched depending on what is required.

Price: The Extender will provide you a quote on the spot. For simple repairs, such as a small hole or simple hemming the average is €5-€10. More complex alterations and resizing are assessed and quoted on a case-by-case accordingly.

Time: Most repairs can be done on-the-spot - within 10-15 mins. If the repair needs more attention, ExtendThat will offer to hold on to it and deliver it back to you within 7 days for an extra €3.

What is the REBORN theme about?

Most of our clothing today is not designed with durability or their next use in mind. In fact, only 15% of clothing is collected for reuse and every second, a garbage truck full of textiles is thrown out.

REBORN celebrates the creative ways in which clothing is finding new life after use. We feature brands pioneering a range of innovations that are extending the lifecycle of our clothes. All to keep them from being burned or ending up in landfill.

Currently on display as part of the theme is tesswithlotte, a demi-couture collection of upcycled vintage wedding dresses by Tess van Zalinge, as well as a range of pioneering brands including FRANKIE collective, Mafia bags, Pure Waste and more.
