Do I need to have studied clowning before?

No this workshop is designed for beginners and experienced performers alike.

Is there an obligation to 'perform' in front of the group?

While it is always beneficial to give it a go, it is always possible to step out of an exercise. Be sure to communicate this to your facilitator.

I have done some acting. Will that help?

Stage experience can be useful but it is by no means obligatory.

Can I stay for the second class if I enjoy the first?

Yes, but you would not be able to benefit from the combo ticket price.

Clowning for beginners

Through theatre games and exercises we will explore what makes physical stage action funny, giving you a chance to explore your creative potential as a performer.

You will:

play improvisational games
embrace mistakes and failure
connect with your audience (of fellow students)

Clown Lab

Using his experience of teaching clown in drama schools and conservatoires, facilitator Ben Grafton invites you to take part in an exploration of original clown games and exercises to discover their potential in developing your clown persona or accessing the clown state.
