Event description
CLT Lunchtime Hub: Education 4.0

About this Event

This session, led by Chris Bonfield and Marie Salter from the CLT's Technology Enhanced Learning team, will provide an introduction to Education 4.0 in UK and international higher education institutions. In particular, it offers an initial discussion of the role and importance of digital personal assistants, CHAT bots and life-long learning in delivering world-class learning and teaching.

Education 4.0 has been subject to increasing interest, within the mainstream media, technology providers and government. Yet, a challenge for future learning is how one designs buildings, learning spaces and digital services to best prepare the graduates of the future?

We will explore how academics are realising the affordances of these new technologies and learning spaces to plan and deliver their teaching. We will also question what good teaching might look like in the future and how radically different will that be.

Throughout, we will draw on real-world examples from the UK (Staffordshire University), Singapore (Nanyang Technological University) and Australia (Deakin University and Monash, Melbourne).

  • What can the sector learn from these early pioneers?
  • Are there opportunities still to be explored?
  • What impact might this have on how educators teach and deliver their curriculum in the future?

An opportunity for Q & A will follow the talk.

Light refreshments available from 12:15. Please bring your Keep Cup to help reduce the number of disposable cups we use!
