What is the Level 5 Coaching and Mentoring Courses

The suite of CMI Level 5 qualifications in Coaching and Mentoring have been developed for working managers at middle management level and those aspiring for senior management positions. Individuals who want to develop their coaching and mentoring skills and link them to their management and business goals, this is an ideal pathway.

The CMI Level 5 courses focus on management coaching, mentoring practices and the management of action learning.

You can study at the Award, Certificate, and Diploma Level.

Key Benefits of Level 5 Coaching and Mentoring Qualifications

  • The course consists of essential models and theories which relate to coaching and mentoring and the impact they have on an organisation. It is designed to enrich skills and techniques, giving you a wider knowledge and understanding of how a manager should apply these processes when coaching and / or mentoring staff
  • The assignments encourage you to apply theories and models to practical work situations
  • The qualification is a Nationally recognised course with transferable credits onto other courses. It also gives you the chance to progress onto higher level qualifications such as an MBA or Masters course

Course content

The Award consists of 1 unit and has a transferable credit value of a minimum of 6 credits.

  • Unit 1: Introduction to Management Coaching & Mentoring

The Certificate consists of 3 units and has a transferable credit value of a minimum of 18 credits.

  • Unit 1 - Introduction to Management Coaching & Mentoring
  • Unit 2 - Management of Coaching & Mentoring
  • Unit 3 - Using Coaching & Mentoring Skills as a Manager

The Diploma consists of 7 units and has a transferable credit value of a minimum of 42 credits.

  • Unit 1 - Personal Development as a Manager & Leader
  • Unit 2 - Introduction to Management Coaching & Mentoring
  • Unit 3 - Management of Coaching & Mentoring
  • Unit 4 - Using Coaching & Mentoring Skills as a Manager
  • Unit 5 - Coaching Practice & Theory
  • Unit 6 - Mentoring Practice & Theory
  • Unit 7 - Management of Action Learning

Who is the course designed for?

  • You must be 19 years of age and over
  • You must have previously worked as a Junior Manager or similar job role

Study Support information

  • Completion of an assignment for each unit
  • No examinations
  • Candidates are assigned a UK-based Tutor
  • Tutors are available by telephone, Skype and email to discuss course content/materials and provide support and guidance with assignments
  • Programme coaches are available via email to assist with any issues or concerns during your course
  • The course is a self-study course. It is delivered via an online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
  • All course materials are available online, so you can complete the course with flexibility
