The University of Edinburgh is excited to welcome Debbie Wake from the Edinburgh Innovations, NHS and MyWay Digital Health to share an honest account of her career journey with our Post Docs.

Dr Debbie Wake is a Clinical Reader at University of Edinburgh, a NHS Diabetes Consultant, (MBChB, BSc, PhD, Clin Ed Dip) and CEO/Co-Founder MyWay Digital Health (MWDH). MWDHs award winning flagship MyDiabetesMyWay and MyDiabetesClinical digital diabetes solutions deliver low-cost data-driven IT to improve patient self-management and clinician treatment delivering a 5:1 ROI. MDMW has >50,000 patients in UK and is now being implemented in NHS England and has an international pipeline. Debbie is a researcher and teacher with expertise in diabetes health informatics and is leading a national Innovate UK project on artificial intelligence. Debbie has clinically led international diabetes education programmes in Kuwait and China, is a Diabetes UK Clinical Champion, a 2017/18 NHS Innovation Accelerator Fellow and 1 of 9 IUK Women in Innovation award winners.
