Event description

Description

We are running three co-design events to develop Peer support Principles for the Perinatal Mental Health sector, the second will take place in London. You can book your place here.

Co-design is defined as a method where decision making is shared equally throughout the process, everyone taking part (people working in the sector and people with lived experience) have an equal level of power within the process. Using co-design to create the principles means people with the relevant skills and experience can come together to create a tangible outcome that everyone feels is relevant to their work.

By taking part in this event you will:

  • Help us articulate values that represent women’s experiences of peer support
  • Influence the perception of peer support for maternal mental health
  • Co-design bespoke principles of maternal mental health peer support

Who should attend?

  • People working in perinatal services
  • People offering Peer Support
  • Women with lived experience of mental health problems pre / postnatally

Tickets are free and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please limit registration to one ticket per organisation, additional tickets may be made available two weeks before the event dependent on demand.

If you can’t make this date or location we will be holding other events in Birmingham in April and in the North of England in September. To keep updated on these events please email us.

A travel expense budget is available but only for small organisations and people with lived experience who would find the cost of travel a barrier to attending. Please register for the event and contact us for further information regarding this.

A bit more about the project
Over the next 12 months Mind and The McPin Foundation will be working in partnership with the Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) and women with lived experience of mental health problems during or after pregnancy to undertake the development of a set of peer support quality assurance principles for local maternal peer support projects and relevant providers across the UK. Comic Relief has funded this work.
This is a key part of wider work Comic Relief are undertaking to ensure that peer support in maternal mental health promotes positive outcomes and is:

  • Safe for women and babies
  • Accessible to all and inclusive
  • High quality and evidence-based
  • Trusted by clinical services
  • Measuring and demonstrating outcomes and achieving maximum impact.

We look forward to meeting you at one of the events.

Thank you to DLA Piper for providing the venue for this event.
