Indigenous people have lived in and stewarded the Fraser River Estuary since time immemorial, and see the various species, habitat, and ecosystems as integral to their existence and identity. With increasing urbanization in the Metro Vancouver region, the estuary is at risk.
The expert speakers will share research, experiences, and steps needed to ensure a collective approach to planning and protecting the Fraser River Estuary.
Join Bonita Zarrillo for a conversation with panelists Jordan Point, Executive Director of First Nations Fisheries Council of British Columbia; Dr. Ken Ashley, director of BCIT Rivers Institute, BCIT instructor Ecological Restoration Program, and adjunct professor in the faculty of environment at SFU; and Dr. Tara Martin, Liber Ero Chair in Conservation Department of Forest and Conservation Sciences, University of British Columbia.
