Co-operative Housing: a way to address the housing crisis?
Thursday, 24 November 2011 from 18:30 to 20:00 (GMT)
Whilst the UK's housing stock only comprises of 0.6% co-operative housing, the European average is 15% with some countries such as Turkey and Norway have as much as 25% of housing being owned and run by co-ops. This country is one of the few that does not recognise co-operative housing in law. That's why we have launched the HomeShares campaign, to support the Co-operative Housing (Tenure) Bill introduced by Jonathan Reynolds MP in October.
Our distinguished panel will be looking at the potential for co-operative housing in the UK, with a particular eye on the role of local government.
