Event description

Description

This Fishbowl features Katie Driver, a former senior leader in the Civil Service and now an experienced coach, trainer and facilitator in her own business, the Thinking Alliance. Katie believes passionately that better thinking is the key to a better life, both at work and more broadly. You can expect her approach to be non-directive with a spattering of Nancy Kline’s Thinking Environment methodology blended with some Strengths Profile insights; she is a trained practitioner in both.

At the core of Katie’s coaching is a desire for her clients to be able to cycle smoothly between thought and action, avoiding overthinking or thoughtlessness. She wants her clients to become increasingly resourceful by striking a balance between thinking clearly for themselves and taking action drawing on their strengths. Katie often finds that her clients have a sense of ‘moving at the wrong speed’ and adapts her approach accordingly: either they’re feeling stuck so are going too slow, in which case the coaching may need a bias towards action, or they feel overstretched, burned out and moving too fast, in which case coaching may need to offer vital thinking space. Whatever a particular client’s challenges, the bedrock of Katie’s coaching is to step back in order to facilitate better reflection from the client, and to strive to create a sense of ease to enable their insights.

Having followed a successful career as a senior civil servant in the Department of Education, Katie Driver’s current work as a coach also draws on her experience of entrepreneurship, portfolio working, volunteering and marathon running (she ran 1000 miles last year!). She is committed to diversity and inclusion and particularly enjoys helping fellow introverts play to their strengths. Katie is actively involved in her community, serving on the Governing Corporation of South Thames Colleges Group, leading the Wimbledon DrivenWoman group and helping run mini-rugby at her sons’ local club.
