About this Event

Coaching Fishbowl with Liz Gooster

Continuing the ever-popular Fishbowl format online, the coach for this event is Liz Gooster, an active member of the Meyler Campbell Faculty and a graduate of the Mastered Programme (class of 2011). As Liz is fond of saying, coaching is about the client not the coach. This means her style in the moment is very much client-led and responsive to the needs of the person she’s working with. Driven by curiosity, a love of learning and a sense of caring deeply about her clients and their progress, Liz likes to keep her coaching fresh by drawing on a wide range of approaches and methods.

Her clients say she is ‘powerfully encouraging’ and that she radiates a positive energy in her work. Perhaps unsurprisingly, she is influenced by and aligned with many of the latest developments in positive psychology and is currently studying for a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology at the University of East London. Committed to ongoing learning, she has taken courses in a whole host of fascinating and valuable areas, including mindfulness, strengths, resilience, MBTI and somatic leadership. She still counts her time training in the Listening Environment with Nancy Kline as one of her most profound learning experiences and constantly strives to live up to Nancy’s mantra of ‘what the client is about to think is more important than what I might be about to say’.

Liz worked in academic, educational and business publishing for over 15 years and in her time as Publisher of the Financial Times Prentice Hall book list for Pearson and Editor-at-Large for Kogan Page, she published over 250 business books. One of them was Anne Scoular’s FT Guide to Business Coaching, which transformed her life! Liz now has a flourishing portfolio career as a coach and is a Partner in The Alliance coaching partnership. Outside work, she loves writing and travelling (or did, in pre-covid times) and has a personal goal of visiting 100 countries and writing a blog post on each of them. She lives in Cambridge with her fiancé and three-year-old daughter.
