About the Speakers




Shelagh O'Leary

MSc, MA, BA(Hons), FCIPD, FITOL, FCMI. ILM L7 Cert. Senior Tutor and Career Coach


Shelagh has over 25 years’ experience as a human resource development professional having worked in local government, the criminal justice sector and more recently the National Health Service. She has been instrumental in the development of HR strategy, organisational development, leadership development, talent management and the delivery of training and education, nationally and internationally. She is an executive coach and has specialised as a career coach with a wide range of clients in the public and private sector. Shelagh has operated at board level having been a member of Skills for Justice, and is a member of the CIPD membership and CPD committee. She is also a member of the Career Development Institute, the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and the Institute of Directors.



Brenda McKay

RN, DipN, MBA, FISQC, ILM L7 Cert. Senior Tutor and Wellbeing Coach


Brenda’s background is in healthcare, most recently as Director of Clinical Programmes & Chief Nurse at the Cromwell Hospital in London. Brenda has many years of experience in providing coaching as a fundamental solution to issues of staff performance, collegiality, morale and support. She was a board member with responsibilities for a multidisciplinary and trans-cultural workforce which included senior clinical & non clinical managers, team leaders and staff. Her experience extends to using coaching to manage change in healthcare settings. In her capacity as senior tutor at BSC, she now uses these experiences to deliver the coaching and mentoring qualifications. In addition we have a rapidly growing practice in wellbeing coaching which is led by Brenda.
