How to Sell Coaching (an elevator pitch for the uninitiated)
After coaching for about a decade I found myself repeatedly having to explain what coaching wasn’t, and how it differed from mentoring, training and even counselling. It’s crucial for coaches to be able to explain quickly and pithily “What coaching *is*”, what it is typically used for, and the practical structure coaching sessions take. This session explores the ways in which we explain coaching to the uninitiated and the steps we can take to ensure that our coachees are choosing the right support for them.
Who is delivering it?Mark Sexton is Head of the coaching profession in the Intellectual Property Office, where he has coached for over a decade. He has a particular interest in the science behind coaching and the benefits of having people throughout organisations coaching alongside their day job (he is also head of the Industrial Chemistry Patent Examining Group).
Attendee Participation?Yes – there will be a couple of points in the session at which we can share experience and top tips and a Q&A at the end.
