Event description

Description

Explore the Wilder side of St Ives....
Join professional foraging guide Josh Quick, learn how to safely & sustainably harvest your own food from the hundreds of edible wild plants that surround us.

Where land meets Sea; The coastal environment is very unique and home to many fascinating and delicious plants. This course will involve a gentle walk along the coast starting near Portmeor beach.

For most of our history as humans we have gathered and sustained ourselves from the wild. Whilst we may be more disconnected in the modern day we still use plants for many aspects of our daily lives. The relationship between plants and humans is inseparable. Whether your interested in new and exciting flavours, healthy eating, sustainable food, crafts, survival, bushcraft, brewing or herbal medicines foraging offers something for everyone.

The art of foraging teaches us to slow down and reconnects us to our local landscape, flora & the seasons

Perfect for beginners or more experienced foragers, the content of the course will be tailored to people's experience and interests. We'll look at techniques to identify plants, legal issues, poisonous plants to avoid, sustainable harvesting techniques and uses of plants as food, drinks, fibres and much more.

There will also be some food and drink samples to try made from wild harvested ingredients.

Tickets are £25 for adults

Under 16's are free but must be accompanied by an Adult, please send a message and let us know when booking so we can keep track of numbers

You may wish to bring a camera, notepad and a basket or lunchbox to take some wild ingredients home with you. Please dress appropriately for the ever-changing Cornish weather. The course will run unless the weather is particularly bad in which case full refunds will be issued
