The Five Year Forward View has asked all health communities to consider radical new care delivery options over the next few years. At COBIC we strongly believe that re-aligning incentives through multi-year Capitated Outcomes based Incentivised Contracts (COBICs) helps create the conditions which support provider innovation and make it easier to deliver integrated services of the sort set out in the Five Year Forward View and elsewhere.

At COBIC we are already supporting commissioners in developing and letting capitated and outcome based contracts eg in Bedfordshire, Croydon, Herefordshire, Milton Keynes, Northumberland, Oxfordshire, Sheffield and South West London. These contracts change the business model for health and make new ‘asks’ of providers – for example expecting them to be able to coordinate the care of individuals across settings within the context of population health management. As important is our work with providers to translate outcome-based specifications and help you acquire the skills and capabilities you need to take full advantage of the opportunities these contracts create.
