Description

Make getting involved with Code Club one of your goals for 2018!

We're delighted to be hosting a free meetup at the Handsworth Association of Schools, which has been supporting Code Clubs in schools across the local area.

Across Birmingham, the Black Country, and further afield, there are lots of schools, libraries, and community venues running Code Clubs.

This meetup is our way to give back and say thanks to the Code Club community. It’s also a great introduction to what we're all about for new people, and a chance to get hands-on with digital making in our awesome activities. If you're an educator, a teacher, or an aspiring Code Club host or volunteer, this event is for you!

At the event, there will be:

  • Demos and talks from Code Club hosts and volunteers

  • An introduction to Code Club and the impact it can have on your school or community

  • News and updates about what’s happening in the world of Code Club and the Raspberry Pi Foundation

  • Talks by members of the wider tech community (speakers to be confirmed)

If this piques your curiosity, sign up for free, and come join us. There will be plenty of opportunities to network, and we'll have pizza and other refreshments too.

See you on 20 March at the Handsworth Association of Schools Conference Centre!

About Code Club

Code Club is a UK-wide network of free volunteer-led after-school coding clubs for young people aged 9–13. Our aim is to inspire the next generation to get excited about computing and digital making, and to help them learn to build and share their ideas.

We have many schools, libraries, and other venues across the West Midlands and beyond looking for volunteers to help start their clubs. Tim Wilson, our coordinator for the area, will be present to answer any questions you might have about starting or running a club.

Where can I contact the organiser if I have questions?

You can contact Tim on Twitter @codeclubwmids or via email westmidlands@codeclub.org.uk.
