Description

Make getting involved with Code Club one of your goals for 2018!

For our upcoming free Code Club meetup, we're delighted to be teaming up with the fantastic crew at the Wavemaker makerspace in Stoke-on-Trent.

Across Stoke, Staffordshire, and beyond, there are lots of schools, libraries, and community venues running Code Clubs.

The meetup is our way to give back and say thanks to the Code Club community. It’s also a great introduction to what we're all about for new people, and their chance to get hands-on with digital making in our awesome activities. If you're an educator, a teacher, or an aspiring Code Club host or volunteer, this event is for you!

At the event, there will be:

  • Demos and talks from special guests, Code Club hosts and volunteers;

  • Chances to get hands-on with Wavemaker’s equipment — 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, and much more

  • Chances to try out coding and computer equipment

  • News and updates about what’s happening in the world of Code Club and the Raspberry Pi Foundation

  • Talks by speakers from the Code Club and the wider tech community (speakers to be confirmed)

If this piques your curiosity, sign up for free, and come join what will be a fun evening! There will be plenty of opportunities to network, and we'll have pizza and other refreshments too.

See you on 30 January at Wavemaker in Stoke-on-Trent.

About Code Club

Code Club is a UK-wide network of free volunteer-led after-school coding clubs for young people aged 9–13. Our aim is to inspire the next generation to get excited about computing and digital making, and to help them learn to build and share their ideas.

We have many schools, libraries, and other venues across Staffordshire and beyond looking for volunteers to help start their clubs. Tim Wilson, our coordinator for the area will be present to answer any questions you might have about starting or running a club.

About Wavemaker

Wavemaker is one of many venues in Stoke who believe all children should have the opportunity to learn to code, no matter who they are or where they come from. Wavemaker is a unique community-driven makerspace in the heart of North Staffordshire, where people can come together with professionals to make, play, think, learn and grow. With a passion for STEAM, creativity and making, Wavemaker gives the people of Stoke-on-Trent the opportunity to learn, explore and make with access to equipment and training in a unique, stimulating and safe environment
