Event description

Description

Get lost in space, have a chat with your computer and build your own racing game!

What?

At Code Club young coders (recommended ages 7-11) will learn how to program simple games and animations using the visual, block-based programming language Scratch.

Our Code Club volunteers will be on hand to help them work their way through exciting coding projects which will gradually extend their skills and increase their confidence. The Code Club curriculum consists of a set of projects with step-by-step instructions, but children are equally welcome to bring their own ideas, projects and creativity!

When?

Code Club at Central Library runs every other Saturday from 1:30 to 2:45 PM. Sessions take place on the following dates:

  • 23 September
  • 7 October
  • 21 October
  • 4 November
  • 18 November
  • 2 December
  • 16 December

The sessions are aimed at complete beginners - no prior experience of coding or Scratch is required, but your child should be able to read instructions and have basic keyboard/computing skills.

To book a place

Places for Code Club are free but limited!

A maximum of two places can be booked per booking. Tickets are only required for the young coders - parents/carers are welcome to stay and help out (and learn!) without needing to book a place. Please book for each session your child(ren) will attend.

Should the Club be fully booked, your child will be placed on a waiting list, and you will be contacted as soon as a space opens due to cancellations or non-attendance.
