Event description

Description

Join Tim Wilson, Code Club Coordinator for the West Midlands, for a free interactive training session at Wolverhampton Central Library on 13 February to find out how to get involved with Code Club.

Code Club is a nationwide network of after-school coding clubs for young people aged 9–13. Our clubs are led by volunteers and educators, and in this training session you will learn everything you need to know to set up and run a Code Club.

You do not need to have any prior knowledge of coding or teaching to join this session.

All you need to bring to the event is a laptop. WiFi will be provided, and there is nothing to prepare or download in advance.

The training will cover:

  • An introduction to Code Club

  • How to start a club in a library, a school, or another community venue

  • Essential information on safeguarding

  • A chance to learn coding basics while getting hands-on with Scratch and the Code Club projects

Who is the training for?

  • Adults (16+) who would like to learn some basics of programming in Scratch

  • Anyone who is considering hosting or volunteering at a Code Club and would like some more information before starting

  • Anyone who has signed up as a volunteer but has not yet started a Code Club

Accessibility: if you have questions regarding venue accessibility, please get in touch with Tim at westmidlands@codeclub.org.uk.

If you have any questions in advance of the session, please get in touch with Tim at westmidlands@codeclub.org.uk.

Thank you to the team at Wolverhampton Central Library for hosting and supporting this session.
