The aim of this CoderDojo event is to provide an opportunity for students aged 10-18yrs (as well as parents and/or teachers) to develop their own digital making skills while being mentored by our CoderDojo mentors. Participants will learn skills such as building a website, creating a game or physical computing, and explore technology in an informal, creative, and social environment.

Please note: Children aged 13 and under must be supervised by an adult. Ticket sales close before the event starts. Nobody will be admitted without having registered correctly in advance - this will be enforced strictly to help maintain high standards of safety.

Programme:

4.00pm-4.30pm Arrival and setting up.

4.30pm-6.00pm CoderDojo activities. All equipment and resources provided.

5.30pm-6.00pm Show & tell.

This event is being run with support from exa.foundation (part of Exa Education), CPC UK and The Micro:bit Foundation.

We'll have worksheets and everything you'll need for our prepared informal activities. Experts from our community will be on hand to help.

FAQs:

Who can come?

Anyone aged 10 or older can participate. 10-13 year olds need to be supervised by an adult. Adults can come along to supervise children, or volunteer to mentor or just help out.

Do I need to know any programming?

No. If you want to learn to code, we can help.

Do I need any equipment?

If you can bring a laptop, that's great. Alternatively, we will provide loan laptops for you to use during the event.

Can I buy any equipment on the day?

There is a Sales Counter next door, but you will need to have set up an account before you can purchase anything.

Can I drop my kids off and pick them up at the end?

No. Children under 14 must be supervised at all times. Adults supervising children must also order a ticket.

How do I get there?

Is parking available?

Some parking is available at the venue and there is some on-street parking too, or you could use the 23 bus route which passes close by.

I ordered a ticket but now I can’t make it. What do I do?

Places are strictly limited. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket. If you go in to your Eventbrite account and view your order, you can cancel it to allow someone else to take your place.

Will there be photography?

We usually take photos during the event, which we may use to promote the Dojo and use in other promotional materials. If you would like to opt out, please let the event organiser know.
