Coding Discourses: Computer-Assisted Discourse Analysis with MAXQDA
Overview
How can qualitative data analysis software support discourse analytical research? How can qualitative coding contribute making sense of a discurse? This webinar demonstrates how MAXQDA can serve as a powerful tool for conducting discourse analysis—from open-ended, exploratory coding to systematic analysis of discursive formations, dispositives, and power relations. Drawing on Foucauldian archaeology and critical discourse analysis traditions, we'll explore coding strategies specifically designed to uncover the rules governing what can be said, by whom, and with what authority—extending your analytical toolkit to reveal power relations embedded in language.
Key Topics:
- Designing theory-driven coding strategies for discourse analysis
- Identifying discursive rules, formations, and dispositives
- Analyzing thematic occurrences AND meaningful absences
- Using matrices and visualizations to map discourse patterns
- Maintaining interpretive rigor when using CAQDAS
