COFA Survival Guide - An intermediate guide to your role
Duration is between 2 to 3 hours, depending on the questions raised.
Introduction
The role of the COFA has become more demanding in the last four years since the SRA Accounts Rules were updated. This live training aims to tackle the most important day-to-day issues and will provide you with a guide to the high-risk areas you may encounter.
Expert speaker, Luke Dickinson, will provide a look into the world of being a COFA in the legal industry. As an expert on the Rules, he advises COFAs almost every week on Accounts Rules compliance.
He will also share his experiences with running an SRA Accounts Rules audit department.
What You Will Learn
This live learn will cover the following:
- The high risk areas you may come across on a regular basis. Including: provision of prohibited banking facilities, residual balances, shortages from the client account and more.
- What happens when a breach is discovered. The breaches register and reporting requirements.
- How to deal with residual balances and what the Law Society recent practice note has to say.
- What changes are expected and what does the future look like for the Accounts Rules.
