About this event

Grab your favorite mug and connect with LGBTQ+ people from across Scotland in the comfort of your own home.

This Month we have guest speaker from the V&A Dundee's Lavender Label Project!

We are delighted to welcome Assistant Curator, Louise Dickson, who is part of the V&A Dundee’s Lavender Labels, will be with us to tell us more about the Lavender Labels project.

V&A Dundee's Lavender Labels is an ongoing project which uncovers and reinterprets objects in the Scottish Design Galleries from an LGBTQ+ perspective. Within the Scottish Design Galleries, you can find a trail of purple labels and objects telling stories of protest, DIY, LGBTQ+ comics, drag and lifelong love and partnership.

Part of this session involves an ice breaker with discussion. Please bring an object which you would define as a queer object (there are no wrong answers!) Looking forward to hearing about all of your objects.

Anyone aged 50 and above is welcome to join our online meetup. It is a welcoming and safe space where you can meet new people, catch up with old friends and connect with your local community.

The LGBT Age team will be there to meet and greet you. There will be some gentle, no pressure relaxed social activities to help folks introduce themselves and get to know each other, and we'll use breakout rooms for smaller group chats.

We meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Who we welcome

All LGBTQ+ people in Scotland aged 50 and above are welcome to join us.

We welcome the entire diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community including non-binary, queer, intersex, asexual people and all identities under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella.

We also welcome people who are exploring or aren't sure about their sexual orientation/gender identity, or who do not use labels for either.

How to join?

To get access to the online meeting space, we need you to register in advance.

Use this Eventbrite form to register. Registration is for 1 person only. If you wish to book for someone, please make another registration using their name. After registration, you will receive a confirmation email.

You can also contact the event organiser Jean (she/they) at jean@lgbthealth.org.uk, or phone 07516 553 274 (Monday to Thursday 9am-4.30pm)

If something changes and you can no longer attend the event, please let us know as soon as you can so your space becomes available for someone else. You can cancel your space on Eventbrite or contact Jean.

Access

We meet on the video conference app Zoom.

Live captioning will be available during the online meeting.

You don't need a Zoom account to join a Zoom meetup but you can create one here. If you have a Zoom account, our email reminder will also include the meeting ID which you can use to find the Zoom meeting.

Eventbrite reminders will include a link to an online event page which you can access the Zoom meeting from. In order to use the online event page, you need to register an account with Eventbrite. If you don’t want an account with Eventbrite, make sure you book early enough to not miss the organiser’s email reminder which will include the direct Zoom details.

If there is anything you need to talk to us about in advance to help you access the event (including using Zoom), please contact Jean at jean@lgbthealth.org.uk or 07516 553 274.
