About this event

We are excited to welcome you to this 6-week Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) course on managing anxiety. Over the six weeks, we will explore practical tools and strategies that you can use to reduce anxiety, manage difficult thoughts and feelings, and live a more balanced and fulfilling life. The course will run at the same time and day (Saturday) for the entire 6 weeks. Each week builds on the skills mastered in the previous week/s, so attendance at all weeks is really important.

This course is designed to help you:

  • Understand Anxiety: Learn what anxiety is and how it affects your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
  • Challenge Negative Thoughts: Identify and reframe the automatic negative thoughts that fuel anxiety.
  • Face Fears Gradually: Learn to confront your anxieties step by step, using a method called exposure therapy.
  • Use Relaxation Techniques: Learn methods such as deep breathing and mindfulness to manage the physical symptoms of anxiety.
  • Maintain Progress: Create a long-term plan to manage anxiety and prevent relapse after the course.

How This Course Will Work:

Each week, we will focus on a new aspect of CBT and introduce exercises and strategies that you can practice at home. These exercises are designed to help you better understand your anxiety and gradually take steps toward managing it. Your active participation is key to getting the most out of this course.

What You Can Expect:

  • Engagement: Each week, we will introduce new topics and practical exercises that will help you understand anxiety and learn how to manage it.
  • Group Sharing: This course offers a supportive environment where you can share your experiences with others and learn from their journeys. Sharing can help reduce feelings of isolation and increase the sense of community.
  • Homework: Each week, you will be given tasks to complete outside of class, such as thought records, relaxation practices, and exposure exercises. These will help reinforce what you learn and encourage you to make progress in your own time.
