COGS- Sewell Park Academy - 19th July 2017

Cogs looks at careers events in a different way, choosing to identify the individual's skills, and then guide them to conversations with organisations promoting these skills and interests.

What is involved in an Cogs Day?

The morning is spent focusing on future opportunities available to the young people in line with their skills and abilities, to inspire them.

The afternoon will then see groups taking part in a mock interview, representing their candidate. The general idea is to get the students to look at themselves differently to help them build their own CV and covering letters to apply for sixth form, college, apprenticeships, employment.

In essence, COGS is an engaging and interactive day, geared towards getting students to really think from the eyes of the employer.

Inspired Youth Projects Ltd

About Inspired Youth

Inspired Youth initiative is all about engaging local businesses with the next generation of young people coming through schools, colleges and universities in our region.

Against a backdrop of rising youth unemployment, our aim is to build relationships between local employers and local students so as to:

  • create relationships that could lead to employment opportunities
  • raise aspirations among young people
  • offer an insight into the world of work, whether through placements or creative problem-solving and mentorship
  • connect local employers to the next generation

Created as a sustainable model of engagement, the Inspired Youth projects are funded by the organisations that benefit from them. Events and awards are sponsored by companies that in turn are offered opportunities for:

  • staff development
  • networking
  • raising their profile
  • building relationships with schools
  • recruitment or internship placements
