Description

Colin MacIntyre is bringing Mull Historical Society to Islay! Join him for an evening of music and words, and hear him discuss the musical inspiration behind his award-winning debut novel, The Letters of Ivor Punch. Expect a stimulating evening and a wee complimentary dram to kick off Islay Book Festival!

A native of Mull and from a family of storytellers, Colin MacIntyre is an award-winning musician and author who has released seven albums to date, achieving two Top 20 albums, and four Top 40 albums, most notably under the name of Mull Historical Society. He has been voted Scotland’s Top Creative Talent and has toured with The Strokes, Elbow and REM. He is the co-author of a Radio 4 Afternoon Play, and has collaborated with Tony Benn and Irvine Welsh, among others. The Letters of Ivor Punch is his debut novel and it won the 2015 Edinburgh International Book Festival First Book Award. His first book for children, ‘The Humdrum Drum’, featuring accompanying songs, will be published in 2018.

This is Colin's first visit to Islay and it's a rare chance to hear him play. Colin has also promised to read his grandfather Angus MacIntyre's famous poem 'Islay Cheese' here on Islay!
