In this workshop, you will learn about stop-motion animation and how to create short animations and experiments using collage cut-out animation techniques.

About the Tutor:

Dominika Jackowska is a freelance animator, storyteller and workshop facilitator currently based in Edinburgh. Born in Poland, Dominika studied BA Hons in Animation at Edinburgh College of Art, specializing in stop-motion filmmaking.

Having held positions within companies such as Kolik Films, she has worked on shows like the BAFTA Award-winning animated series OOglies. Recently worked on animation projects in partnership with Edinburgh Printmakers and Community Land Scotland.

Donation:

There's an optional donation to go towards the running costs of the classes - this stops people booking up all the free tickets then not showing up! Eventbrite requires £1 to be entered in the box but we can refund that in cash when you attend the class, or you can put it towards a cup of tea from the kitchen :)

Sketchy Beats is a not-for-profit arts space on Great Junction Street, Leith. It's an open platform for creatives of any kind to use and share their ideas with the public. The space is designed to be affordable and accessible to everyone - people who have never organised events before, musicians who have never played outside their own bedroom, artists who have never exhibited before. It aims to be a place where creativity brings the community together, without money being an obstacle.

Everything in the space is donation-based. If you want a cup of tea or coffee, you can help yourself and leave a small donation. If you want to bring your own alcohol, just leave a donation for corkage. If you want to organise your own event, it's free to book, we just ask for a donation from each person who comes in.
