sweet-thang believes that dreaming is the start of creation and manifestation. In order to action our beliefs, we are organising our very first Collective Dreaming Community Day. We decided that with the theme of dreaming and many critical conversations about community, building, upskilling and resource sharing, it was important to bring that into fruition; even if it is just for one day.

The Collective Dreaming Community Day encapsulates the things we would like to see in the future. It is a microcosm of our ideal and dream world, with:

  • The donation and sharing of free necessities such as food and clothes amongst community members
  • The donation and sharing of free literature amongst community members
  • Education: craft workshops combining arts, aesthetics and utility - learning in community
  • Discussion and collaborative problem solving: panel discussions with other members of the community about pertinent issues impacting our community
  • Rest: workshops that teach the importance of rest and care in a space of work and action
  • Documentation and preservation: live illustration from an artist in the community, to document and preserve the work and activities of our community

Have clothes/non-perishable foods etc that you'd like to donate? If so, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/Jzyc647TecqZci9F7

We can't wait to share, discuss and laugh with you! If you have any access needs or questions, please email sweetthanginfo@gmail.com with 'Community Day' in the subject line. <3

Please note, this event is for Black folks (i.e: for those of African-Caribbean heritage or of Mixed Black heritage who identify as Black) We appreciate allies who support us by buying our issues but ultimately sweet-thang exists as a space for and by Black artists and writers and we want our events to reflect that. This community day is no exception. Thanks for understanding!

Tickets are non-refundable and go towards overheads and general organisation costs.

We have a limited number of free community tickets available, email sweetthanginfo@gmail.com to get.
