We start this workshop with a writing game to come up with some absurd and funny short stories. We then individually translate all of these tales into a series of images on primed cardboard boxes. We think about the box as a 3D-relative of a comic panel, or just as a little brick that´s part of a bigger story construction site. Narratives can create circles, go up and down, collapse, and collide. We can do something similar with our cardboard boxes. What if all together we were to stack them, rearrange them, turn them, string them close to each other?
The aim of this workshop is to create some loose narratives that can collapse at any moment. This workshop is for anyone who wants to explore different approaches to storytelling, fast painting and drawing from imagination and memory, and collaboration.
All materials will be provided but it's encouraged to bring acrylic paint and paint brushes. Please note: some materials (like paint) may be messy, so we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
The project space can also be chilly, so bring warm layers.
