Colorectal Cancer Networking Afternoon

Join us for an engaging and informative afternoon dedicated to raising awareness about colorectal cancer research at Oxford University. This in-person event will take place on Thursday October 26th 2023, from 2 pm at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology (KIR, Old Road Campus). Registration will be open until the 19th of October.

Our Keynote speakers: Dame Fiona Powrie and Prof Simon Buczacki will update us on the latest exciting CRC research at the University of Oxford. The talks will be followed by a drink reception and poster exhibition in the KIR atrium.

Dame Fiona Powrie is Director of the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology and a Professor of Musculoskeletal Sciences. Fiona's work has identified the functional role of regulatory T cells in intestinal homeostasis. She has also shown that both adaptive and innate immune mechanisms contribute to intestinal inflammation.

Simon Buczacki is Professor of Colorectal Surgery at the University of Oxford. His work focuses on understanding how colorectal cancers evolve and how different mutations change the way cancer cells interact with each other and with surrounding tissues.
