Event description

Description

We're excited to host an extra special tour around Colour in honour of our current theme in the Fashion for Good Good Shop. We’ll be hosting our first colour meditation followed by coffee and croissants, followed by a short session with editor of ‘Kleur & Stijl’ Carla van den Puttelaar, who’ll share her experience working with colour. Then we'll finish with an indepth tour of our Experience with a focus on colour innovation.

COLOUR THEME

Colour has a rich history in fashion, shading our clothing so we can express who we are. Once, only natural dyes were used, but the brilliant tints of synthetic dyes replaced them. Using 5 trillion litres a year, fabric dyeing accounts for 20% of global water pollution and countless health issues from the 8000 chemicals used in the process. We believe there are better ways to colour our clothes without causing harm. The brands and innovators that we’ll be highlighting during the tour are pioneering a new path to dyeing without toxic chemicals, thanks to both a resurgence in handcraft and natural dyeing, and technological advancements that reduce chemical, energy and water use.

COLOUR TOUR

At 11am we’ll kick off the tour with a short colour meditation from our Host Team-lead and licensed Yoga instructor Sophie van Duren. Each chakra in our body is an energy centre and is represented with a unique colour – colour meditation involves focusing on each of your chakras and on their colour, in order to bring more balance in mind and body; promoting healing and peace of mind.

Then, we'll serve croissants and coffee/tea before starting our tour through the Experience to learn more about the brands and innovators that currently feature in our space. The tour will have a special focus on colour innovation and craft – including digital printing, natural dyeing, biotechnology advancements in dyeing without chemicals and more.

At the end of the tour, editor of 'Kleur & Stijl' magazine Carla van den Puttelaar will be on hand to share her 30+ years of experience as a colour, style and communication consultant – sharing her insights around how colour plays into style, mood and self-expression.

OPTIONAL SCREENING

At 12.30 we will be showing a short 10 minute documentary in Dutch from the Waterlanders series, where Jeannette den Boer and Stefan Coppers travel to Bangladesh to experience the consequences of fast fashion on life in the region.
