Tutor: Nick Morley
In this two day workshop you will learn how to design, carve and print multi-block linocuts in colour. You will learn what tools to use and how to keep them sharp, how to plan, carve and print a multi-block linocut and how to register the different layers to make sure they allign accurately. You will learn how to mix colour and how to control the intensity and shade through tinting, transparency and varying the amount of colour on the block. There will be plenty of time for experimention, through which you will learn how create new colours through layering and how to create a colour blend.
Linocut is a popular printmaking technique which can easily be practised at home with very little equipment. It is very versatile, allowing for both bold, expressive marks and controlled detail. By varying the way the block is inked and printed a variety of textures can be created.
