What you will learn:

This short course will take you on a fascinating journey through colourwork knitting!

Over the course of three sessions you will be exploring Fairisle, creating your own colourwork patterns and learning the hows and whys of colour theory and creating successful colour palettes that really pop!

Our first session will focus on colour schemes – we’ll be creating colour palettes, yarn wraps and test charts, exploring why some colour schemes really zing and others fall a little flat. We’ll explore contrast, hue and value and learn how the black and white image on your camera is your best friend when it comes to choosing great colourways.

In session two you’ll be exploring how to knit with multiple yarns, changing colour, knitting with a colour in each hand as well as developing an understanding of the key features of Fairisle knitting – choosing suitable yarns, the language of Fairisle (floats, carrying, dominant yarns and more).

In our final session you’ll be pulling all your knowledge together, designing a simple chart and producing a yarn wrap to choose your colours. You’ll be knitting up your design into a simple pattern which you can start in the session and finish at home.
